all skin and sinew bulging at you
smile wonky, teeth awry
in wordless words and endless longing
wrapped in foil long ago
reopened and won't close again
i have no hatred for you nor desire
to awaken hatred
and all the eggs laid in me died
and all the spiders hid inside
a web of webs around the foil
trapped now by the time
and by the distance
and the terrible confusion of old memories
with new encounters
flies lay eggs and spiders trap them
slugs will slime and salt dissolve them
show your knickers to the world
and we'll come running, pants round ankles
playthings, crippled, smelly, sweaty,
begging for a smile o yes
we're begging for a smile
