Swallow. Not very good.

It's official.

The rating given to it by the Ultimate Ezines Database of 1.76 out of 5 works out at approximately 3.52 out of 10, which is 0.52 more than I would give it myself.

Which is a shame, in some senses, because after the unexpectedly high quality of contributions from others over the last little while, I had been rather hoping that the not-very- goodness of Swallow would somehow organically right itself into some kind of not-half-badness, more than which, I feel, would probably be asking for a little more than is really on, as it were.

However, as I have been repeatedly told, there is a thin line between cutting-edge personal web commentary / criticism / creativity, and just being another whining web-bore droning on about how shitty he's been feeling since his girlfriend left him. Fortunately, in my case, there has never been a question as to which side of the line I stand, although why she stayed with me for so long is a mystery to many, including her.

But you needn't concern yourself with that. This issue of Swallow has another fine contribution by mez, and three entirely new contributors: Bloogirl, Paul Callahan and Ronald L. Rivest. All of these people have things to say which are worth reading, and it is my fervent hope that none of them mind being annexed in this way for Swallow #8.

I'd avoid the section marked 'More Bad Poetry' if I were you. Oh, and if this issue's Pedant looks like a poorly disguised excuse for something or other, that's probably exactly what it is.

{this'll do. gevalt]
