Everything and Nothing

nothing really matters
everything is going to be alright
my heart in shreds
my life in tatters
in the pub on Friday night
alone until this shield shatters
till i learn to get it right

everything is topsy-turvy
no-one seems to really mind
staring into space bent curvy
trying, desperate to unwind
to patch the rotting sores my scurvy
memories of you left behind

open up a brand new chapter
close the door on tears shed
abandon all the dreams you sapped me
white bone dry of in your bed
forget your smiling face
all trapped between the lies in all you said

i'm moving on i'm letting go
too many demons left to fight
in crowds of tired Friday drinkers
pallid in the yellow light
see nothing really matters
everything is going to be alright
