with both eyes open wide as wide
i struggle with reality
with all my hollow empty pride
and limited ability
to recognise the lies i've lied
i keep a candle burning
for the love of all i'm letting go
i watch the pages turning
i look up the words that i don't know
forgetting all my learning
it's not real if it doesn't flow
this life is too damn easy
if you live each moment by the book
unreal fake and cheesy
though oceans danced and mountains shook
the sky itself was queasy
open up your eyes and take a look
and as the very planet takes
its vitamins and tries to hide
from all the bitter bile she
has welling up inside
