Little Blue Book

beauty fades

beauty fades
and charm soon passes
memories of tits and arses
smiles lost
and found again
run gutter dirty
down the drain.

love
and other fictions
bursting bookshop shelves
and shopping bags
of cabbages
and king size cigarettes
and tired porno mags.

my energy is endless now
there's no beginning
nor an end
and every day
i win another game
and lose another friend.

the shutters of the century
are closing on us
dog like
drooling
ragged toothed
and impotent
in sighs and groans
incessant mewling.

waiting for the sands to shift
and blow us both away
with a hundred thousand flowers
and a princess for a day.
