Little Flower Book

charm soon passes

beauty fades and charm soon passes
memories of tits and arses
going round and come again
slipping softly down the drain

charm soon passes, beauty fades
all those tickertape parades
all those words and all those songs
all those rights and all those wrongs

time's a bitch so don't deny it
drop a stitch you ought to try it
down among the usual folk
who the girl and who the bloke

it's a tired summer game
fading ache forgotten pain
scratch the surface if you need
i won't let you make me bleed

passion spent will just grow stronger
i just want to leave it longer
grow the trees and bring the rain
then we'll make it right again

all the words in all the books
and all the silent secret looks
will not deceive my magic glasses
beauty fades
and charm soon passes
