errors of judgement
when drunk before midnight
in foolish romantic
impulsive decisions
to blow all your money
on one glass of whisky
for one pretty lady
who won't even drink it
or even acknowledge
or care for the gesture
and later when walking
alone in the rain
all the way to the bus-stop
unsure of the reason
to carry on living
these moments of selfishness
errors of judgement
plaguing my mornings
of hungover wincing
at each wisp of memory
of just how pathetic
and empty and lonely
bad poets can get
in long drawn out longing
for lost youth and laughter
in carefree abandon
and wilful absurdity
love half-forgotten
and sex a commodity
errors of judgement
and then, only, death
