Little Black Book (2000)

bicycle railings

bicycle railings and wrought iron chains
apple-pie curses in warm summer rains
cheeses and squeezes and things long forgotten
glimpsed on the bounce upward back from the bottom
serial sex, smiles tied on with string
old Deus Ex and the joy he can bring
let me down later and I'll ease the blow
with the weed, with the wine, with the travelling show

for you and I, darling, are way too star-crossed
for each seed that we plant to mean nothing is lost
so we dance in wide circles around the display
waiting, hoping, for all of our demons to play
out the rituals that must be endured before we
can ride off to that sunset on Ol' Honalee
and the world will be right though there may be confusion
so cleave to me darling... we'll clear the illusion
